Dark Halo emerged from my fascination with contrasts — both in light and in spirit. I painted this portrait with heavy, textured strokes to emphasize presence and weight, while the dark background and hat create a framing halo that surrounds the figure. His gaze is direct and unwavering, almost challenging, yet softened by the vulnerability of human expression.
The fiery reds of the hair and mustache stand out against the deep blues and greens, echoing intensity and individuality. The rough surface of the paint mirrors the complexity of identity, where rawness and refinement coexist.
For me, this work is about duality: light and shadow, strength and fragility, defiance and introspection. It invites the viewer to look closer, to step beyond the immediate impression and encounter the deeper story.
